OUR PROGRAMMES
Te Mauri Ltd (TML) outworks its vision and mission primarily through the delivery and facilitation of Tikanga Māori programmes to the community and the Department of Corrections.
Tikanga Māori programme – Te Wananga o Aotearoa/Corrections
A kaupapa Māori programme that introduces participants to Māori history, tikanga Māori (values and principles), and te reo Māori. Delivered within the Department of Corrections, the programme supports tāne to reflect on their thinking, emotions, and behaviours through a cultural framework.
Participants who successfully complete the programme gain NZQA Level 2 certification in Tikanga Māori, recognising their learning and commitment to personal development. The programme utilises kaupapa Māori values and mātauranga Māori to strengthen identity, responsibility, and positive behavioural change.
Te Ihu Waka Programme - Corrections
Te Ihu Waka is a programme designed to help participants understand the importance of tikanga Māori, values, and cultural identity. It serves as the beginning of a learning pathway, providing insight into a Māori worldview and the traditions, values, and protocols that guide our lives and actions.
Te Huanui Whakairo Programme - Corrections
Te Huanui Whakairo is a carving programme where tāne learn the techniques, history, and tikanga of whakairo while developing practical carving skills through hands-on learning in a supportive and therapeutic environment.
Te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, and Māori values and principles are naturally woven throughout the programme, strengthening cultural identity, discipline, and personal growth.
Te Oro Whanake Programme - Corrections
Te Oro Whanake is a therapeutic music programme where each tāne learns a musical instrument while working collectively as a whānau group. Through shared learning and collaboration, participants develop musical skills, teamwork, and a sense of connection.
Te reo Māori, tikanga Māori, and Māori values and principles are organically interwoven throughout the programme.
Bail Support Services – Corrections
A support service that provides access Our Bail Support service provides integrated care that advocates for tāne, wāhine, and their whānau while they are navigating the criminal justice system. We work alongside participants to connect them with the services and supports they need, wrapping the appropriate support around them to help achieve their goals.
The service focuses on creating opportunities for positive change while individuals and their whānau progress through the justice process.
Mauri Tu Pae - Corrections
A kaupapa Māori, offence-focused group rehabilitation programme delivered within the Department of Corrections. The programme integrates contemporary clinical principles with Māori values and frameworks to support meaningful change.
It is designed to help tāne understand and address the behaviours that led to their offending, while developing the skills and strategies needed to maintain positive change.

Tūmata Ora – Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Programme
Tūmata Ora is a kaupapa Māori AOD programme that supports individuals to address alcohol and drug harm through culturally grounded healing and recovery.
The programme focuses on understanding addiction, restoring wellbeing, strengthening identity, and developing practical strategies to support long-term recovery.
